Te Manawa Museum presents Solar Tsunamis | Parawhenua Kōmaru, an exhibition developed by Tūhura Otago Museum.

This family-friendly exhibition brings the wonders of space weather to life!  

Discover how Aotearoa has become a leading country researching ways to protect its electrical grid from a massive space weather event – what NASA calls a Solar Tsunami.  

Through hands-on activities, you can: 

• Discover how Faraday’s law of induction powers our homes  

• Learn how the same forces can threaten electrical grids across the globe

• Simulate an aurora  

• Watch electricity come alive in a giant plasma ball
