Looking for the painter in the painting
On 5 September 2017, artist Euan Macleod (below, at left) and his friend, curator Gregory O’Brien, gave a talk in Gallery One, discussing the works of the Painter exhibition. This is the text of that talk.
Te Manawa commissioned a painting from local artist Shane Cotton. The finished work, River Diamond Blue, was on display in the Supernova exhibition alongside its working drawing. Rob Mildon and Jeff Fox spoke with Shane about the painting and its creation.
